נָכַש
נָכַש(cmp. כשכש, קשקש) to come in near contact. Pi. נִיכֵּש (denom. of מַכּוֹש I) to weed; to lop. Kil. II, 5 אין מחייבין אותו לנַכֵּש the law does not bind him to pluck out (the plants which grow among the fenugrec). Ib. ואם נִכֵּש (Y. ed. ני׳) but if he did Tosef. ib. I, 15 והמְנַכֵּש and he who does the weeding (in a field of mixed seeds); M. Kat. 2b; a. fr. B. Bath.54a Ms. R., v. מַכּוֹש I. Hif. הִכִּיש 1) to strike, wound, sting. B. Mets.30b; B. Bath.88a חִבִּישָׁחּ if he struck the lost beast which he took in charge. Gen. R. s. 30, beg. הִכִּישוֹ אריוכ׳ a lion struck and crippled him. B. Mets.78a הִכִּישָׁהּ נחש a serpent bit her. 2) to cause injury by contact. B. Kam.23b מַכִּיש (Ms. H. משיך) he who caused a neighbors death by bringing the serpents tooth in contact with his neighbors body; Snh.78a. Yalk. Deut. 944 שמַכִּישִׁין, v. קונטרינים; Sifré Deut. 317 שמכינים (corr. acc.). 3) (denom. of מַכּוֹש I) to insert the hoe or spade. B. Bath.54a, v. מַכּוֹש I.
